I called Dr. Wellman’s office to see if I could get Ashley in for a check-up. I got an appointment for about noon.

Ashley went to see Dr. Wellman. He thinks she may have a thyroid infection, thyroiditis, or possibly a thyroid problem. However, he is not ruling out thyroid cancer. He decided to start with a thyroid infection and gave her an injection of penicillin. He asked to see her again on Wednesday, October 18, 2006, at about 9 a.m. to check if the lump has gone down, stayed the same or grown. He suggested we not touch the lump until Wednesday because we won’t be able to tell if it goes down gradually.
